Founder and Prinicipal of The Warring Group

Christy brings more than 23 years of extensive knowledge and expertise in marketing, public relations, social media, crisis management and strategic communications. She spent 11 years as the director of external communications at Texas Children’s Hospital, the largest children’s hospital in the nation and now ranked No. 2 nationally by U.S. News & World Report. Prior to that she spent 10 years at Texas Instruments managing B2B media and analyst relations as well as tradeshow communications.
Christy has worked with many doctors, hospital administrators, educators and engineers on crafting and delivering the right message and putting communication strategies in place to promote their products and programs. Christy enjoys the relationships she has created with local, regional and national media. She loves working with teams to identify newsworthy stories and then telling those stories on TV, in print and on social media.
On a more personal note, for her hospital clients, Christy enjoys sharing patient stories that help increase an organization’s perception and make them the go-to source for their care. After losing four family members to lung cancer and in 2008 and losing her 6-year-old nephew to Non-Hodgkin’s T-Cell Lymphoma, this became the driving force as to why she transitioned her career from the technology world to working in healthcare PR to support a children’s hospital.

At Texas Children’s, Christy built a successful PR team from the ground up including instituting a proactive pitching program, national media campaign, a comprehensive results tracking system and negotiating new contracts so the department could track media more effectively. She also created a new social media team to run social media, the patient/physician blogs, and the online reputation and review strategy across the entire hospital system which consists of 82 locations and growing. Alongside managing a 15,000-page website and 17 social media channels for Texas Children’s, Christy spent several months as interim marketing director for the Texas Children’s Health Plan which offers CHIP and Medicaid insurance to more than 480,000 members.

In 2020, Christy went out on her own and started The Warring Group, a full-service marketing and public relations firm, where she works with multiple health systems across the nation helping them with their marketing strategies, content creation, PR campaigns, social media projects and crisis communications. The Warring Group also works with clients across technology, robotics, education, industrial and oil & gas to help them create strategies to enhance their brand locally, regionally and nationally.
